Adams Needle

The Adams Needle bush, Yucca filamentosa, has stiff evergreen rosettes and are part of the scene in hot dry Central and North American scrublands. Yuccas are hardier than they appear, and only fail in cold exposed inland positions, where they are better grown as container plants. This variety has a white edge. Yucca filamentosa makes dense clumps of stiff leaves 30 inches or so long and edged with fine curly hairs. The remarkable flower-spikes, 6′ or more high, appear when plants are five or more years old.

The Ajuga, ‘Black Scallop’, Ajuga reptans ‘Black’, has ‘dark as night’ foliage with gorgeously scalloped leaves. Black Scallops are a knock out in patio pots, combos, and as a striking accent with white, gold or light-colored plants. It displays deep blue flower spikes. It is suitable for full sun or shade. The plants have short growth habits, 3 to 6″ and are hardy to zone 4. A very striking plant to supply color to your garden or patio.

The American Beech tree, Fagus Grandifolia, has a short trunk, with a spreading crown and is a very stately tree.The American Beech grows best in full sun, but will withstand partial shade. This deciduous species has leaves that are a beautiful dark green in the summer and turn to a golden brown fall color. This beech tree is a dense shade tree whose nuts attract birds and squirrels. American Beech trees have a slow to moderate growth rate.
