The Dianthus Double Spotty’, Dianthus x ‘Double Spotty, has a wonderful red rose flower with white spots. With its grassy blue-gray foliage and profuse blooming time, Double Spotty is one not to miss. Dianthus will bloom from mid summer to early fall. In order for a longer bloom time, deadhead the blooms continuously throughout the summer. These fragrant, spicy dove like flowers look wonderful as a border plant, rock gardens, along walks or paths, or edging and a definite in cottage gardens.

Roma Tomato

The Tomato Bush Italian Roma, ‘Lycopersicon lycopersicum’, is a determinate type Heirloom paste tomato from Italy. The Italian Roma is an absolutely excellent, old heirloom tomato used for sauce or canning. The very firm, meaty 3 inch pear-shaped fruits have very few seeds. They are very productive and can produce up to 200 fruits on compact vines. Tomatoes need at least 1 inch of water a week. Soak to depth of 6 to 10 inches when watering. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day.

Detroit Dark Red Beet

The Beet Detroit Dark Red, ‘Beta vulgaris’, is a tender, sweet, tasty, and extremely nutritious root vegetable. The foliage is also highly regarded for taste and it has more iron than a hamburger. Home grown beets are delicious! The top growth is as tasty as chard or spinach. Detroit Dark Red Beets are great sliced and in salads. It is also a good container plant. In mild climates, seed can be sown September for February harvest. Beets prefer deep, well drained soil with lots of organic material. They need to be kept moist.
