Cayenne Long Slim Hot Peppers

The Hot Pepper Cayenne Long Slim, ‘Capsicum annuum’, produces dark green, long fruit maturing to red. The fruits are slim, pointed and wrinkled. The Long Slim Pepper plant is a strong, spreading plant, 20-24 inches tall. It is great for processing and drying. Their intense flavor adds zest to sauces, salads, soups, stews, dips and dried seasonings. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. Use gloves and do not touch any other part of the body after harvesting. Wash your hands immediately.

Pin Oak

The Pin Oak tree, Quercus palustris, is probably the most widely used native oak for landscaping. One of the faster growing oaks; it can grow 12 to 15 over a 5 to 7 year period. Pin Oak trees have moderate water requirements and have a moderate tolerance to salt and alkali soils.This deciduous tree prospers in a range of soil types including wet soils. It loses it lower limbs with age. Young trees and lower branches of older trees hold leaves throughout winter.

The Bachelor Button Black Magic, also known as Cornflower, has other admirable traits including drought tolerance. Bachelor Button will “naturalize” the seed that the plant drops. In warm climates, plant in summer to early fall for winter bloom. Remove spent flowers to extend the bloom season and increase the flower size.

Mango Hybrid Calla Lily

The Calla Lily Mango Hybrid, ‘Zantedeschia’, spring planted tuber, produces wonderful orange flowers with lightly splotched foliage. The flower is trumpet like in form and has a waxy texture. Calla Lilies are also know as pig lilies. The Calla Lily has sword-shaped leaves which are formed at the end of celery-like stalks. The leaves are heart-shaped and are a rich, dark green color that may be speckled. The Calla Lilly makes an excellent cut flower and are great container plants.
